RUN FOR SHELTER!

BOURNE & HOLLINGSWORTH PRESENTS:

D-DAY BLITZ PARTY SPECIAL

By order of The War Office, you are requested to make your way to our East London air raid shelter for a special Blitz Party in celebration of D-Day, taking place on Saturday 3rd June 2017.

Coinciding with the D-Day Normandy landings, June’s event will remember and honour Britain’s heroes with bustling music, fortifying cocktails, and a good old dash of patriotic spirit.

Taking place in a secret London bunker, a cavernous den that contains more alcoholic provisions and Blitz spirit than Churchill’s bunker, this night will recreate the wartime glamour of 1940s London. The venue will be transformed into a wartime air shelter with a swing dance hall, live music stage and bunkers complete with sandbags, searchlights, blackout curtains, oil lamps and military bunk beds.

Another room will project original newsreels and wartime films, accompanied by live music, for a touch of that wartime authenticity. Ladies can drop in at the beauty parlour to perfect their 40s look with complementary hair and make-up touch ups from The Beauty Queens, before getting snapped with their sweetheart at one of the photo booths. Ration books will replace bar menus and scarce provisions will line the walls.

The evening will host the UK’s finest live swing bands and performers, Swing Patrol will be leading a dance class from 7pm, and there will be plenty of wartime snacks on hand in the Mess Hall to keep those jitterbugs going.

Whether you’re a victory curled good time girl or a moustachioed RAF hero, flirt over a Raspberry Collins, swing dance under searchlights, and recapture an era that made history.

Dress Code – 1940s glam, home front utility clothing and allied uniform all welcome. Whilst they appreciate the need to "make do and mend" The Blitz Party operates a strict 1940s dress code. Denim may be acceptable in the munitions hall, and trainers do squeak nicely in the gymnasium, but that is where they should remain.

Bunker Opens at 8pm, Floor shows & entertainment from 9pm
