Event description
Six young black professionals lay 'The Blueprint' for navigating the finance industry

About this Event

*POSTPONED*

While the recently announced tier 2 lockdown measures do not affect educational and professional gatherings, the team has decided to postpone this event to a later date as a precautionary measure.

The registration link will remain open and we have now opened up the event to undergraduate finance students so keep spreading the word.

New date and venue will be announced as soon as it is confirmed. In the meantime myself and the panellists will keep polishing the gems they intend to drop!

The Xavi Art Exhibition – Black History Month is still going ahead as planned (21-25 October) as this doesn’t involve a gathering. Book a ticket if you haven’t already, grab a mask and see you there!

"It always seems impossible until it's done" (Nelson Mandela)

In candid conversation and against the backdrop of Xavi Art's creative pieces at gallery@OXO, six young black professionals who are thriving in the world of finance will set out to demystify the industry.

In their quest to encourage and inspire, they will break it all the way down in simple terms, share their experiences and tips for getting your foot in the door of an industry often stereotyped to be reserved for 'white city boys'.

Carl Konadu, a motivational speaker and self-professed realist will steer the conversation including a Q&A to make sure every stone is turned.

Why The Blueprint?

A Blueprint sets the foundation of what's to come. It's also the title of one of Jay Z's most critically acclaimed albums (for the culture!), but we digress.

The team is intentional about pouring back into the communities and institutions that have shaped them personally and professionally. They believe that they owe it to the next generation, especially those from BAME backgrounds, to share knowledge and show them the ropes. As they see it, there is no reason why those who are coming up behind them should fall victim to misconception or into the same pitfalls as they did. Knowledge is power. Community is everything.

Xavier Leopold vs. Xavi Art – The Backstory

Back in April, as the COVID-19 pandemic started to rage and the nation went into lockdown, I took to painting as a distraction from the isolation and a way to keep a level head. I’d never painted in my life, thoughtless of large-scale canvases. Six months and nearly 30 unique pieces later, I’ve fully embraced my new found duality as Xavier Leopold the trader and Xavi Art the artist and bring you my inaugural exhibition - The Xavi Art Exhibition: Black History Month
