Event description

Description

Join poet Yvonne Reddick for a hike through Holyrood Park and up Arthur’s Seat. We’ll read poems by writers known for their love of walking and enjoy poetry with a link to the local area. We’ll also explore how Scottish poets such as Alec Finlay and Kathleen Jamie celebrate the natural world in their writing about journeys. After the walk, we’ll come back to the Scottish Poetry Library for coffee, and we’ll chat about how we can use our experiences to help us write about nature and place.

Remember to dress for the weather and wear suitable walking shoes!

Yvonne Reddick is the author of Translating Mountains, which won the Mslexia women’s poetry pamphlet competition and was selected as a favourite pamphlet of 2017 in the Times Literary Supplement. She lectures in poetry at the University of Central Lancashire.
