The Bog Run 2017 – Get Stuck In!

When? - Sunday 8th October 2017

Where? - Castlewellan Forest Park

Registration - £20pp

Minimum Sponsorship - £80pp for 18+ & £50 pp for 12-17 year olds

Our brilliantly muddy Bog Run Challenge is back on Sunday 8th October 2017!

We would love you to join Cancer Fund for Children for the boggiest 5K around! It’s a run for fun and not to be taken too seriously (because it’s hard to look good covered in mud and picking twigs out of your hair) and best of all, by taking part, you are literally making a difference to the lives of children affected by cancer.

The Bog Run is now in its third year and we felt it was time to mix things up a little, so what’s new…

  • This year we want even more of you to take part and want you to rope in friends, family, colleagues and…..even the kids! We have opened up our entry requirements and are delighted to welcome participants from age 12+
  • Everyone who takes part in the Bog Run, will be awarded a lovely shiny Bog Run medal at the end to say thanks for taking part! Each participant will also get a goody bag with drink and snack on completion of the run.
  • With the changes, we are delighted that we can offer you an even better value Bog Run and have reduced how much we are asking you to pay to register and raise to take part.

Where & when?

The Bog Run will take place on Sunday 8th October 2017 at Castlewellan Forest Park, Castlewellan Co. Down. Registration will open from 10am.

Why take part?

The Bog Run takes place within a couple of miles of our therapeutic short break centre, Daisy Lodge, located in the foothills of the Mourne Mountains. Daisy Lodge has welcomed over 1000 families affected by cancer since it opened in 2014. This beautiful place brings people together at a time when it is most needed, away from the distressing routine of hospitals, tests and chemotherapy. Families can rest and recuperate ready to face the challenges that lie on their cancer journey ahead.

How difficult is the Bog Run? Who can take part?

The Bog Run will encompass a 5km route with a variety of natural obstacles designed to get in your way, as well as lots and lots of bog and mud!! The Bog Run will certainly be challenging but it will be set at a level that will make taking part more fun and filthy! Participants should have a good level of fitness and should not be precious about getting their hands, in fact their whole bodies, dirty! Anyone over the age of 12 can take part and all participants under 18 years MUST have written permission from a parent or guardian.

How much does it cost to register?

A registration fee of £20pp is required to sign you up – all participants who sign up for the Bog Run will get a Bog Run fundraising pack in the lead up to the event and then on the day, all Bog Runners will receive a shiny Bog Run medal on completion of the run! We will also be giving out goody bags to each participant with a drink and snack inside.

To take part in the Bog Run, we also ask each participant to raise a target sponsorship of £80 if you are over 18 and £50 if you are between 12 and 17. We would encourage participants to try and raise as much as possible to support projects like Daisy Lodge. Why not get your friends, colleagues or family to take part as well and fundraise as a group?

If you have any questions about the Bog Run, please do not hesitate to contact me on 028 9080 5599 or email amanda@cancerfundforchildren.com

We hope you will be able to join us for a truly muddy and marvellous day out to help support Cancer Fund for Children!
