THE BOOK OF DHAKA - SHORT STORIES FROM BANGLADESH
The Book of Dhaka, Comma Press' latest instalment in the 'City in Short Fiction' series, creates a literary map of the city, bringing together ten short stories by some of Bangladesh's finest authors.
Dhaka is the world's tenth largest city with a population of more than 18 million people. It is home to a complex political and social history and an incredibly rich and varied cultural inheritance.
Author Syed Manzoorul Islam, a professor of English at the University of Dhaka, who has published eight volumes of short stories and four novels in Bengali, as well as a volume of self-translated stories in English: The Merman's Prayer and Other Stories will be joined by translator and editor Pushpita Alam, the managing editor of English language publishing house Bengal Lights, and the Dhaka Translation Centre.
