Author Syed Manzoorul Islam, a professor of English at the University of Dhaka, who has published eight volumes of short stories and four novels in Bengali, as well as a volume of self-translated stories in English: The Merman's Prayer and Other Stories will be joined by translator and editor Pushpita Alam, the managing editor of English language publishing house Bengal Lights, and the Dhaka Translation Centre.
