Event description

Description

I'm excited to announce this new workshop for the 2019 dark sky season. We'll have private access to The Bowes Museum and its grounds for an evening.

The workshop is scheduled for a moonless night, during astronomical darkness. The building's floodlights will be turned off, so (weather permitting) you'll be able to get shots of the night sky, including stars and the Milky Way, over the roof of the Museum.

We'll also have access to key parts of the interior of the Museum, including the foyer, the staircase, and the top floor (I requested this one, because of the paintings, sculpture and silverwork on display, including the iconic swan).

As with Raby Castle, we'll work in two groups, each taking turns to have an hour outside, and an hour inside.

Photographers of all experience levels are welcome, including absolute beginners.

You'll need a tripod, and a torch would be useful. Light painting is permitted, as long as no direct torch light is pointed at the paintings.

Numbers are strictly limited to 28 photographers, to ensure you get the shots you need. To keep prices down, your booking is non-refundable (however, it is possible to transfer your booking to someone else).

After you make your booking, you will receive an email two days before the workshop. This email provides you with advice on equipment and notifying you of the meeting location.
