Earlier this year, we lost one of the most extraordinary figures in Scottish jazz. Brian Kellock (1962 - 2025) was a towering presence at the piano, renowned not only across Scotland but internationally for his dazzling technique, deep knowledge of the jazz repertoire, and improvisations that were as moving as they were playful.
He was, in the words of Phil Johnson, respected jazz critic and former music writer for The Independent on Sunday, “a monster of a player, absolutely one of the best pianists and accompanists in the world.” (UK Jazz News, 28 May 2025)
In tribute to Brian’s remarkable life and legacy, we bring together a stellar line-up of musicians who knew him, played with him, and were inspired by him. This one-off concert will feature Tom Gordon (drums), Ali Watson (bass), Harris Playfair (piano), with special guests Ross Milligan (guitar) and Colin Steele (trumpet), celebrating the artistry of a man who shaped generations of Scottish jazz talent.
Join us for an evening of outstanding music in honour of a true jazz original. This is not just a concert. It is a celebration of a unique stylist who captured the spirit of jazz with wit, soul and brilliance, always playing his own way and surprising us every time.
Buy a joint ticket with The Harris Playfair Quartet and receive a discount - £25 for both concerts.
