The Business of Rocking the Outdoors and Networking 190517 12024
Fri 19 May 2017, 18:00 – 20:00 BST
Come and join us once again for an exclusive behind the scenes tour and sneak peek at the Wiltshire’s Hugely Successful Charity Rock Concert – Concert at the Kings. This year concert supplier, and FSB Member, Iain Wallis will be talking about the event industry and the challenges faced when turning an empty field in to a venue.
Join the FSB Kennet Branch committee the night before the concert for an evening of networking with other local businesses and learn a little bit about what goes in to making an event like the concert a success. FSB Members and guests will get to see the things the general public usually don’t see, including a backstage tour of the artists ‘chill out area’ and dressing rooms as well as the exclusive platinum lounge. The organizers of the event will be on hand to tell us about the concert, its aims, and some of the challenges they face when putting on an event for 5000 people. And with any luck you may spot a star or two!
The Concert at the Kings, now in its sixth year, has grown in popularity year on year since 2011 when it all began. That year Brian May put in an appearance and has since been followed by Roger Taylor, Jeff Beck, Midge Ure, Bob Geldof and the Boomtown Rats, The Straits, the animals,10cc, Sweet, Suzi Quatro, Marmalade, Big Country, and many more! This year Sweet and Wilko Johnson (Dr Feelgood) will return to be joined by Gerry & the Pacemakers, and John Coughlans Quo on the line-up with some very special guests.
Concert at the Kings was set up by three local men – A Rockstar, a Sound Engineer, and the Pub Landlord – whose lives, like many of us, have been touched by cancer, after asking themselves ‘what can we do to fight this disease?’. After five successful years the event has donated over £150,000 to cancer charities and local organizations and aims to increase that total even more in its Sixth Year.
Speaker, Iain Wallis, ‘grew up’ in the event industry and has over twenty years’ experience working on every type of event from small family get togethers, weddings, society parties, all the way through to shows with tens of thousands of visitors.
