A tour of the Carrowmore passage tomb complex in connection with ‘The Passage Tomb Landscape of County Sligo’ UNESCO World Heritage Site bid. This tour led by Dr. Stefan Bergh (University of Galway - Emeritus) and Robert Hensey (Sligo County Council) is based on recent research investigating how the Carrowmore passage tombs were constructed with respect to their dolmen capstones. What was important to the Neolithic builders when constructing a dolmen? Were they following set rules and preferences in choosing and positioning the capstones? Might previously unidentified capstones exist unnoticed in the Carrowmore landscape?
