The TUC is co-hosting a launch seminar with the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) entitled ‘The Case for Full Employment: gateway to better jobs’ from 2.30 pm – 4.30 pm on Wednesday July 10th. The seminar will be held in the Boothroyd Room, Portcullis House, London SW1A 2LW. The seminar will launch a major new report setting out the case for full employment and outlining policies that could help achieve it.
Unemployment is more than 800,000 higher than it was before the recession; there are twice as many long-term unemployed people and 300,000 more young unemployed people. A return to full employment is a priority for British workers, but this is unlikely unless governments are committed to achieving it.
