The Centre Event: Gypsy Roma & Traveller Young People's Advice on Action
Wed 9 November 2016, 13:00 – 16:00 GMT
This is an event by GRT young people and their workers for GRT young people and their workers.
Anyone interested in participation or challenging discrimination against GRT communities is welcome.
During the past 2 years over 50 GRT young people in the UK have been working with The Centre at UCLan and with our partner organisations (Article 12, Travelling Ahead, Leeds GATE, Unity, Bolton College, Torfaen TES and Splott Play Centre) and partner Universities (Stirling and Huddersfield). They have delivered training, conducted participatory action research, built links with GRT young people in other countries and developed a guide to action for GRT young people by GRT young people.
This event will:
Showcase the young people's work
Provide opportunities to share learning between GRT young people and workers
Call for action to improve education for GRT children and young people
Help identify an agenda for further action
Lunch and Refreshments will be provided.
Limited bursaries for travel with GRT young people are available. Please book your places for the event and then request this financial assistance by e-mailing CLarkins@uclan.ac.uk
New Venue: Conference Room in Adelphi Building not Vicotria building as originally advertised
