Over the past decade, research has highlighted stark ethnic wealth inequalities, but many questions remain unanswered.

The British Academy-funded project “The Challenge of Ethnic Wealth Inequalities: Building Understanding”, conducted by Dr Eleni Karagiannaki at the Centre for Analysis of Social Exclusion (LSE) in partnership with The Equality Trust aims to fill some of the gaps.

We would be delighted if you could join us to discuss the findings of the project, including how ethnic wealth disparities have evolved over the last decade in the UK, the key drivers behind the observed trends, and the challenges different ethnic groups face in building wealth, along with recommendations for change.

Most importantly, we want to hear your perspectives on the biggest barriers faced by different ethnic groups in the UK today in building wealth, your ideas for solutions, and your vision for change.

Speakers

Dr Eleni Karagiannaki is an Assistant Professorial Research Fellow at the Centre for Analysis of Social Exclusion at LSE. She is a British Academy Fellow and leads the project “The Challenge of Ethnic Wealth Inequalities: Building Understanding.”

Caroline Tosal-Surprun is the Engagement and Participation manager at Equality Trust, working in innovative ways to ensure people most impacted by policy decisions are seen as key stakeholders in research design and decision making. Caroline trained 10 community reporters as co-researchers to gather insights into the challenges and opportunities to build wealth across different ethnic groups. Some of the community reporters will be presenting their work at the event.
