Event description

Description

Islam has rapidly grown in influence in our society over the last several decades, including in our schools, universities, supermarkets, prisons, and financial institutions, often with government support. Already we have the emergence of a parallel legal system, with a network of sharia courts or councils operating around the country. Christian Concern has backed the legal cases of workers who have been disciplined or lost their jobs for witnessing to Muslims in the workplace. Integration of Muslims into our society is now widely recognised as a real challenge for our nation.

Join our panel of expert speakers as they discuss the challenge of Islam and how the church can respond. There will be opportunities for questions and answeres. A light buffet lunch will be provided.

About the Speakers

Daniel Scot, Director of Ibrahim Ministries International in Australia

Daniel Scot was born and educated in Pakistan and became a Mathematics Professor in University Colleges in the country. Daniel was active in sharing his faith which resulted in him being the first Christian to be charged under Pakistan’s infamous Blasphemy Law (295C) in September 1986. During this time Daniel declined all invitations to accept Islam, an action, which would have spared him from persecution and the risk of death.
Daniel was delivered from the life-threatening situation that he found himself in and was able to flee Pakistan, followed by his family two and half years later. While in Australia, Daniel saw the need for inter-faith dialogue to eradicate misunderstandings between Christians and Muslims. Since that time Daniel has devoted himself to religious matters - teaching Christians about Islam and Muslims about Christianity & Islam. Daniel and his wife Mariat Scot now servce as Directors of Ibrahim Ministries International Inc. (IMI)

Beth Grove, European Director, Pfander Centre for Apologetics

Beth is the European director of the Pfander Centre for Apologetics, a Christian research teaching ministry equipping Christians worldwide to confidently engage Islam. She has lived among Muslim immigrant communities in London for 19 years and has obtained a master’s degree in Islamics. Beth publicly engages Muslims on faith issues, so that Islam is held accountable, and Muslims are given the opportunity to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Tim Dieppe, Director of Islamic Affairs at Christian Concern

Tim joined Christian Concern following a fund management career in the City of London. Tim became concerned about the increasing influence of Islam whilst working in the city, and this led to him exposing extremist links to Sharia Compliant Finance, and later refusing to run a sharia fund. He writes about the influence of Islam for Christian Concern, and has produced a booklet highlighting the various problems with Islamic finance. He is passionate about informing and equipping the church to respond effectively to the challenge of Islam in the UK.

A light buffet lunch will be provided.
