About this event
Shine Like Stars Theatre Company proudly presents... The Children Of Blackamoor
Yorkshire, Summer, 2022. For Josie and her friends, the holidays won’t start until they've completed their history project. Their assignment: to research and explore somewhere of local significance. The disused army base, the M62 motorway and the giant Tesco store are all possibilities, but Josie, Thea and Kaylee are far more interested in the fourth item on the list: Bartrum Manor, the former orphanage, standing in ruins on the bleakest spot of Blackamoor. Strange stories abound of the times before and after it burnt down. It’s just begging for the teens to explore it, and after all, who believes in ghost stories?
Yorkshire, Winter 1846. A group of orphans flee across the moors, desperate to find a new home and filled with guilt at being the ones who caused the fire to start. But Harry is more haunted by hazy memories of a strange figure in the house, seconds before it was engulfed in flames. Were the stories about the old Manor true? Or were Nora and the others right when they said that it had all been a figment of Harry’s imagination? After all, who believes in ghost stories?
