These are the values that lie at the very centre of the people profession form the framework of this year’s CIPD in Wales Roadshows.

Join us as we visit North, South, Mid and West Wales for a day of networking, sharing and learning.

Highlights of the day:

  • CIPD Directors will share thoughts on how these values are inextricably linked to our three principles: Work matters, People matter, Professionalism matters.
  • Principles led: the importance of values and culture in your organisation
  • Evidence based: CIPD experts and organisational experts examine the importance of data and how this can be used in critical decision making
  • Outcomes driven: case study of how research and evidence has been used to develop and implement a new approach to conflict management
  • Legal experts will update us on the latest in the world of employment law
  • We end the day with a motivational session on the importance of looking after ourselves as we continue to lead our people, teams and organisations

Employee relations investigations can cause real harm to those being investigated – as well those involved in the process. NHS Wales has been taking forward a national programme of work to improve the application of its’ disciplinary policy and pilot sites have already seen a reduction in the number of investigations undertaken and savings in sickness days and financial costs. Colleagues from Health Education and Improvement Wales, the strategic workforce body for NHS Wales – will provide an overview of the programme which has taken an outcomes-driven approach for employees, organisations and the profession.

14.15 – Session 5 – legal update, Rehan Pasha, a solicitor from Bramhalls, will be offering us guidance on some recent developments in employment law, and how to deal with them, commercially.

Daphne Doody, Interim CIPD UK Market Director.

Daphne recently started an interim UK Market Director role at CIPD, responsible for shaping the UK Market strategy and leading the team that will expand connectivity, reach, and support more members and customers, partner with more organisations, and influence and champion better work and working lives across the UK.

Previously Head of CIPD in Northern England, she was responsible for leading regional development and strategic engagement in Northern England, ensuring that CIPD strategy reflects the diversity of businesses, organisations, and members’ interests.

Her roles have and are focused on building reach, influence, and impact across the UK. This involves partnering and building relationships with key stakeholders, CIPD members, employers, HR leaders, policymakers, business communities and networks to amplify our voice and develop regional insights that will support members and enable better work and working lives.

As a board member of three of the Northern England combined authorities' Fair and Good Work Charters - Greater Manchester, Liverpool, and West Yorkshire – Daphne plays an instrumental role in supporting this agenda and working collaboratively to improve good employment standards in the region.

Having worked for the CIPD for over 20 years – and in number of senior UK and international roles - Daphne’s built-up expert knowledge in all areas of HR and the people profession, along with strong market and business development experience. She regularly chairs CIPD Conferences and judges on many national and regional HR Awards.


Michael Baker


Katie Stickland, Knowledge Exchange Manager, CIPD

Katie joined the CIPD in 2023 as the Knowledge Exchange Manager. Most recently she has been supporting large and complex research and knowledge exchange projects in the higher education sector. She also has experience working for local authorities and third sector organisations to support businesses and communities to make a difference in their localities. Katie holds an undergraduate degree in Applied Social Science: Anthropology from the University of Southampton. Katie works to facilitate the flow of research learnings into practice and lived experience into research development.


Andrew Cooper, Head of Programmes, Employee Wellbeing , Aneurin Bevan University Health Board – Compassionate investigations.

Andrew Cooper is Head of Programmes (Employee Wellbeing) in Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. He is also working with Health Education and Improvement Wales on the national ‘Improving employee investigations’ programme for NHS Wales.

Rehan Pasha, Employment solicitor, Bramhalls

Rehan is a hugely experienced employment solicitor; working with HR professionals, almost exclusively, which he has done since he qualified in 1997!

Rehan joined Bramhalls 10 years ago and he loves acting as a trusted adviser to HR professionals, providing pragmatic and commercial solutions to people problems.

Rehan is also recognised as an employment law expert in legal directories.

Outside work, he is a full-time (and very proud) dad, husband and son.”


Claire Roberts, HR FOR HR

After hitting a massive burnout brick wall Claire Roberts was forced to re-evaluate every aspect of her life, her journey of recovery led to her creating HR FOR HR and The Chaos Calmers, with a mission to influence and impact the world of work to radically improve culture and wellbeing.

Claire has a non-negotiable ‘whole person’ approach to the transformational coaching and consulting services she provides to businesses, teams and individuals, as well as providing an extension to HR departments to deliver projects. With expertise in burnout prevention/recovery, confidence and resilience, Claire has a clear focus on both professional and personal development and ensuring that ‘the basics’ are never overlooked in favour of the next shiny new thing.

Claire is hugely passionate about providing safe spaces to allow individuals and teams to explore and create lifelong change so that they thrive in multiple aspects of their lives, there are no papering over cracks or box ticking with Claire, just realistic and personalised results that genuinely make a difference.

Claire is a regular speaker both inside and outside of the HR profession, won the CIPD Wales award for Outstanding Impact in HR, is in the process of writing several books and is a self-confessed stationery and beetroot lover.

If you have already met Claire, you’ll know that she is all about being real and therefore is pretty down to earth and is known for her informal style, so please feel free to show up as your whole self, she definitely will.
