Gwyn Richards is Assistant Director in the Department of the Built Environment and heads the design team negotiating major development schemes. Gwyn will discuss wider planning considerations and provide insight into pioneering research that will shape and inform architectural design in the Square Mile.
His presentation will provide an overview of the latest developments within the City Cluster (completed, under construction and consented) and discuss key planning issues in accommodating these including pedestrian flows, security, consolidated deliveries, inclusivity and free public viewing galleries: all the while balancing growth with the protection of key London views.
Gwyn will further provide an insight into 3D modelling work undertaken to future proof the City, as well as wind, sunlight and pedestrian modelling to inform the future development of the City Cluster - and the Square Mile as a whole - in addition to recent trends which will define the City's identify and role in the future.
This will be a most insightful discussion following on from the recent win by the City Corporation at the London Planning Awards last month, where the City of London's wind modelling project for the Eastern Cluster of tall buildings scooped the top planning prize.
