The Climate Emergency: From Declarations to Action
Event Information
About this Event
Is your organisation thinking about declaring a climate emergency, but unsure where to start? Or is this a conversation you want to encourage in your workplace?
Join Business Declares, ActionAble and On Purpose on Thursday 23rd April from 6-8pm for an online workshop about the climate emergency and practical steps to taking action.
We find ourselves in unprecedented times, with news about health and the economy eclipsing headlines across the world. The climate emergency? Almost forgotten and yet more important than ever.
So how do we continue the conversation about climate? How can we harness the circumstances we find ourselves in to mobilise people to take climate action?
We understand that many organisations and individuals are fighting to stay afloat amid these challenging times and are having to make large adjustments to the way that they work. This workshop will explore how climate plans can be made and adapted in this new context, and will equip participants with tools and knowledge to sensitively approach conversations about the climate in order to create meaningful impact in their organisations and networks.
The workshop will cover
- Why the time to declare a climate emergency is now
- How to communicate climate issues in these unprecedented times
- How an organisation declares a climate emergency and takes action, including
- Case studies from organisations that have done it
- Examples of effective climate action in the time of COVID-19
- A presentation from Ben Tolhurst about his work as a climate champion at JLL
- A step-by-step guide on how to declare
- Opportunities to connect with other people and organisations, and to ask your questions of Business Declares and the room
Tickets are £5, and support Business Declares to continue to help business declare a climate emergency and take action. Ticket holders will be emailed a link to to join the online workshop w/c 20th April.
