The TCULC champions high-quality, person-centred musculoskeletal care that looks to help you move beyond joint-specific silos. With the judicious use and application of contemporary evidence, combined with real-world experience and a critical appreciation, this course will equip you ready to rise to the challenges of providing MSK care in the 21st Century.
Aimed at the frontline clinician, the TCULC will demonstrate how you can work with the person presenting with musculoskeletal disorders in your clinical setting to achieve their goals whilst also encouraging you to critique course content and delivery to collectively advance thinking and consider new directions. This course will be highly practical and interactive, fast-paced and readily applicable.
Objectives
For participants to:

Course Content
Your TCULC will be loosely based around the following timetable, with some variability based on the specific needs of the group identified in goal setting at the start of the course.
All sessions will have practical components.
5 hours of pre-course content will be made available 2 weeks before the practical course commences.

TRAINER
THOMAS MITCHELL
Thomas is the UK MULLIGAN CONCEPT™ teacher, gaining membership to the Mulligan Concept Teachers Association in 2016. He is also a team leader and clinical supervisor first contact physiotherapist for Primary Care Sheffield NHS trust, clinical lead physiotherapist for the One Health Hand Hub and private practitioner for Remedy Physio.
EXPERIENCE
Thomas has been practicing physiotherapy for over 20 years and has a number of clinical and academic interests. He worked for ten years in the elite sporting environment, with posts with the English Institute of Sport, GB Boxing, GB Wheelchair Rugby and Sheffield United Football Club. He lectures internationally on topics including the upper limb, First-Contact Physiotherapy and wrist and hand, and speaks regularly at national and international conferences. Thomas is academically active, currently engaged in a systematic review of physiotherapy for the shoulder and contributing chapters to various textbooks. He is the UK Mulligan Concept teacher providing training in the rational use of mobilisations with movement in the modern clinical environment.
TRAINER
ANDREW CUFF
Andrew works as a Consultant Physiotherapist and national Head of MSK for Connect Health. An experienced Consultant MSK Physiotherapist, he subsequently progressed to Head of MSK, responsible for our FCP, Tier 1 and Tier 2 MSK Services. In May 2023, Andrew was promoted to Director of Clinical Strategy, joining the Senior Leadership Team.
Andrew has a reputation as an expert clinician and thought leader on an international scale. As an active researcher with many clinical papers in peer-reviewed journals, he is a regular speaker at worldwide conferences. His PhD focused on the indications and rationale for diagnostic imaging within primary and community care. Andrew has held Executive positions in several organisations including EUSSER (Chair of Comms); the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (Chair of Education), and most recently the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine (Diplomate Chair) – the first AHP to join the FSEM Executive Council.
When not at work, Andrew continues to develop his leadership capabilities, holding a King’s Commission in The Royal Yorkshire Regiment and attempts to practice what he preaches around physical activity, as a very average runner and cricketer.
VENUE
Thundercliffe Grange is an eighteenth century mansion house with service wings and stable block, set in approximately 22 acres of mixed parkland and woodland on the Sheffield/Rotherham border in South Yorkshire. There is a golf course, snooker room and gym on site. Meadowhall Shopping Centre is an 8 minute drive and there is a Travel Lodge at Meadowhall. Refreshments and Lunch will be provided on this course.
