About this event

Community • Historic

David Dale's wealth derived from cotton manufacturing depended on enslaved labor for raw materials. Yet he was also an early abolitionist who chaired the Glasgow Society for the Abolition of the Slave Trade.

Dominic d'Angelo, whose researches into Glasgow's merchant families and links to slavery over two decades ago, looks at Dale's complicated legacy.
