About this event

Community • Historic

Robert Macpherson of Banchor was one of the most colourful and controversial characters in Badenoch histry: dissolute youth, well-esteemed military chaplain, erudite Highland gentleman, clearances villain, improving farmer, elder statesman.

We are pleased once more to have David Taylor, our well-known local historian, talk at the Festival. Author of a number of local books (all of which are available to buy - email badenochheritage@gmail.com for details), he will explore the life and writings of "Parson Robert", including his sharp and often witty observations on issues such as war, officers, marriage, French ladies, nuns, and the church. Were his hopes of 'public esteem' merited?

The event will start at 7pm. Please arrive 10 minutes before the start time.

Pre-booking is essential.

We look forward to meeting you at the event!
