Event description

Description

The Conversation are sending two editors to Oxford for the day on Wednesday 28 Feb. The subject specialisms of the editors are still TBC, but don’t worry if you don’t fit with their topic areas, as they will be covering the whole range of topics.

We have changed things up this year and developed a session which will share more about The Conversation - not only how to write for them, but what opportunities can come from it, and how this fits into the wider Oxford research and communications landscape.

Teams from Social Sciences and Humanities Divisions will give an overview of how The Conversation fits into how you think about communicating your research and your options. They will hand over to the editors, who will guide you through a The Conversation 101 with all the basics you need to know about writing for them, the editorial process, and areas they are currently interested in exploring with researchers.

The second part of the session then allows you time to work up a pitch for the editors, and deliver it to them in person. If all goes well, you may be able to work an article up for publication after the session. Or if you don't get quite that far, you've established some contacts which can be picked up at a suitable time.

Tea, coffee, and a sandwich lunch will be provided.
