Whilst regions of space where starts and planets are forming produce beautiful images of our cosmos, they also happen to be littered with chemicals. These chemicals, and their interactions with each other play a vital part in the story of star and planet formation, and likely hold the clues to the origins of life itself. So, how do the chemicals get there, how do we know what is there and why, and how can we test how chemistry evovles in star-forming regions. Understanding the chemistry of the universe is a key driver for the next generation of space and ground based telescopes, like E-ELT and JWST - come and learn why. Oh - and don't forget to bring towels!
