About this event

Swindon Social Enterprise Network (SSEN) are pleased to present an “environmentally friendly” on line seminar, kindly hosted by Business West, delivered by Eoin McQuone Founder of Go Climate Positive on: “Counting Carbon: The Costs and Benefits of Managing Your Carbon Footprint”.

Synopsis: In the last 20 years climate change, caused by excessive emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, has gone from a disputed esoteric discussion to a demonstrable scientific fact that is driving both consumer behaviour and government policy. Yet most businesses have only the vaguest notion of what their carbon footprint is and the things they can do to manage it.

Over the next 10 years, the legal, economic and regulatory framework is set to change dramatically as all the mainstream political parties have vowed to make our economic recovery a “green” one. This makes it vital that business of all types and sizes start to understand and manage their greenhouse gas emissions (commonly known as their “carbon footprint”).

• What does it mean to manage your carbon footprint and why is it important for business?

• How much do we need to reduce our emissions and how easy will that be to do?

• What will it cost to start “counting carbon” and how much time will it take?

• Is it all costs or are there benefits to be had from reducing your carbon footprint?

• Why have over 30% of the FTSE 100 businesses made a “Net Zero” commitment and what does this mean?

In this brief introduction to counting carbon, Eoin McQuone of Go Climate Positive, will answer all these questions and more, helping you understand what you need to do to start preparing your business for the coming low-carbon economy.

About Eoin McQuone: Eoin is the founder of “Go Climate Positive” a community of businesses determined to make a difference on climate change and a co-founder of the Gloucestershire Climate Commitment.

Specialising in carbon calculation and analysis, he’s an optimist and believes strongly that the low-carbon economy is a business opportunity as much as it is the right thing to do to protect the environment we all depend on.

Having lived in Cheltenham for 18 years, Eoin was previously a Director at the market-leading manufacturer Mira Showers. He is currently a member of the Cheltenham Economic Recovery Task Force and an ambassador for Visit Gloucestershire.

Outside of work, he will generally be found either running along the Cotswold Way or on stage with top tribute act, “Dire Streets”.

Please book to attend - the Zoom link will be in the Eventbrite confirmation e-mail you receive once you have registered.
