Haydn wrote The Creation in 1797 having heard Handel’s great oratorios on a visit to London; it is rightly considered a masterpiece. As its name suggests, the work celebrates the story of creation as described in the biblical book of Genesis.
For this performance, the YPC will sing the work entirely from memory.
The work will be sung completely in English and will feature considerable musical resources including a full mixed choir, three soloists and full orchestra, under the musical direction of Dr Andrew Padmore. We will be welcoming back the Amici Ensemble for the first time since lockdown for this concert.
