"Write drunk, edit sober." - misattributed to Ernest Hemingway
If creativity is that happy, unselfconscious burst of a feeling that will make a blank page look like uncharted territory and an empty canvas like the opportunity of a lifetime, then perfectionism is that little devil sitting on our shoulder whispering that what we write or paint on it is not good enough.
Is this anxiety over quality good? If so, how much of it is good...? When does perfectionism become crippling or something that makes us intolerant toward our collaborators - and how can we prevent this from happening?
`This special Interintellect Salon is hosted in collaboration with Ness Labs and its brilliant founder Anne-Laure Le Cunff. We will discuss perfectionism and creativity from a neuroscientific as well as philosophical point of view - we will explore these two drives in successful combination with one another, and situations when they become each other's obstacles.
We hope you'll join our discussion!
