About the Musicians
Nigel Yandell (piano)
After studying music at the University of York, Nigel Yandell gained a postgraduate scholarship at Wadham College, Oxford, where his doctoral research focused on eighteenth century keyboard music. Since then his interests have expanded into new areas, including aspects of music publishing and historical performance practice. He was a contributor to the most recent edition of The New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians and other related publications.

An experienced solo pianist and accompanist, Nigel Yandell has performed and lectured widely in the UK and Europe. He has lived in Cambridge since 2001 and is currently Director of Music at Hughes Hall. Formerly a Director of the London Sinfonietta, Pro Corda and Palace Opera, he is a Trustee of the Cambridge University Music Society and the Stradivari Trust, as well as a Director of the Cambridge Union Society. He is currently principal external examiner for the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Jon Fistein (cello)
Jon read medicine at Jesus College, Cambridge, where he was awarded an Instrumental Exhibition. He then held an Imperial Scholarship at the Royal College of Music. As well as giving numerous recitals he is in demand as a session musician and can be heard playing (sometimes several times at once!) in pop songs, films, cinema ads and computer games.
