About this event

  • Event lasts 4 hours

Explore the potential of art in enhancing well-being and performance. This workshop offers an introduction to the use of art in therapeutic practice, covering its historical development, theoretical foundations, and practical applications.

Learning Objectives:

  • Historical context: understand the origins and evolution of art as a therapeutic modality (the practice is almost as old as we are so you'll have to excuse the brevity of this segment!).
  • Approaches and applications: gain familiarity with various ways that art has been used therapeutically and in different contexts.
  • The psychology of coulor: explore the relationship between colour and emotion.
  • Practical techniques: learn 8 art-based exercises designed to foster self-awareness, creativity, and personal development.

Who Should Attend:

  • Mental health professionals: therapists, counselors, and psychologists looking to expand their therapeutic repertoire.
  • Educators and personal development practitioners: individuals who work in growth-oriented fields and wish to incorporate creative methods.
  • Those interested in personal development: anyone seeking to enhance their self-understanding and well-being through art.

Workshop format: this practical session emphasises experiential learning. Participants will engage in 8 structured art-based exercises. To fully benefit from the workshop, attendees should bring: a pencil, a pen, an eraser, and several colored materials (e.g., paints, pencils, or pens). Worksheets will be provided in advance.

Participation: spaces are intentionally limited to ensure personalised attention and a focused learning environment. Early registration is encouraged.

Facilitator: led by Dr. Aura Goldman, an artist, psychologist, and psychotherapist (CPsychol, HCPC, AFBPsS, BASES, MNCPS Acc.) who has long integrated the arts into her practice.

Environment: designed to foster an atmosphere of inclusivity and thoughtful engagement, this workshop provides a supportive setting for both personal and professional growth.
