Description

The Event

Ahead of the Lord’s Ashes Test, The Cricketer invites you to join us for a live event in the company of Geoffrey Boycott at Tuke Hall, Regent's University in London, on Tuesday 13 August. Geoffrey played in 108 Tests and 36 ODIs for England, finishing his international career as the highest run-scorer in the history of Test cricket. He also played for his beloved Yorkshire, captaining the club for eight seasons and scoring more than 100 first-class centuries. Today, he is one of the most popular and opinionated cricket commentators on radio and television.

Join The Cricketer on 13 August where you will have the opportunity to hear Geoffrey speaking to The Cricketer editor Simon Hughes as he reflects on his career, discusses his thoughts on the current state of our game; the ongoing Ashes series; England’s World Cup campaign and answers your questions about his life in cricket. We will be asking lots of questions on the night, and some answers we’ll be looking to extract from Geoffrey will be:

  • A look back on England’s victorious World Cup campaign

  • An analysis of the first Ashes Test and look ahead to the rest of the series – will England be able to regain the Ashes?

  • Will England find a solution to their Test batting woes? Which players should be given a chance for the rest of the series and the winter?

  • Recollections of the England and Yorkshire teams of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.

  • His personal successes – winning three consecutive County Championships with Yorkshire, scoring a century in his Test comeback in 1977, scoring his hundredth hundred against Australia at Headingley.

  • His post-playing career – touring the cricket world as a radio and television commentator, publishing numerous books, his work as columnist for The Telegraph, and his time as Yorkshire president.

Please do join us for what should be a wonderful evening – but please note tickets are strictly limited – so book now to avoid disappointment.
