Description

The Event:
The Cricketer invites you to join us for a live event, this time in the company of Nasser Hussain in London on Thursday 6th July. Nasser captained England 45 times across his 96 Tests, presiding over one the most important periods in the history of English cricket. Bottom of the Test ratings in 1999, he hauled them up by the boot straps, leading them to memorable wins over West Indies in 2000, and in Pakistan and Sri Lanka the following winter. Without his groundwork, the 2005 Ashes win under Michael Vaughan would not have happened. He was also an excellent, under-rated batsman, with 14 Test hundreds.

Join The Cricketer on July 6th where you will have the opportunity to hear Nasser reflect on his career, discuss his thoughts on the current state of our game and and answer your questions about his life in cricket. The evening will be chaired by our editor Simon Hughes who will help draw out some answers from Nasser, including:

  • Recollections of England Test cricket in the ‘90s – a talented side that began the decade with great hope beating West Indies for the first time in 16 years and ended it at rock bottom

  • What were the most important steps he oversaw in turning England into a competitive, professional side?

  • His personal successes, an Ashes double-hundred, the comeback innings against India in ’96, runs against Murali while captaining in the subcontinent and beating the West Indies

  • Controversy on his watch, the Hansie Cronje game at Centurion in 1999, putting Australia in at the Gabba in 2002, the Zimbabwe decison in 2003 and his relationship with Tim Lamb and gesturing to media centre after the ODI hundred against India

Please do join us for what should be a wonderful evening - but please note tickets are strictly limited - so book now to avoid disappointment.
