The Critical Role of Multi-Academy Trust Leaders

Training and support network for executive leaders of multi-academy trusts.
This programme provides [potential] CEOs and other MAT leaders with an insight into the key considerations for establishing a MAT and the approaches adopted by partnerships across the region.
Running a MAT is a demanding role. This five-day programme is designed to provide supporting to existing and aspiring MAT executive leaders and the specific duties and responsibilities of the varied leadership roles. To be successful, leaders will need a knowledge of these key areas. In addition, local executive leaders will share an insight in to their own emerging and established practice and provide opportunities for leaders to network with each other.
There are five modules available on discrete days, each presented by specialists in each area. You can attend all five modules or select those which best meet your needs at this moment in time.
Module 1: Statutory responsibilities. This session provides an overview of the legal and regulatory context in which MATs are required to operate, basic knowledge of applicable law, and an understanding of when they should seek further advice and guidance. Module led by Rollits LLP, Wellspring Academies Trust and Exceed Academies Trust.
Module 2: Finance and procurement. For those leaders who are not from a professional finance background, this module helps leaders to develop a clear and detailed understanding of the responsibilities, requirements and issues relating to the financial operation of the MAT. Module led by BHP Accountants, Wellspring Academies Trust and Exceed Academies Trust.
Module 3: Policies. Policies relating to employment and HR; pensions; safeguarding; and health and safety are key considerations for MATs, particularly in relation to those aspects of biggest risk or complexity. Module led by Browne Jacobson, Wellspring Academies Trust and Exceed Academies Trust.
Module 4: Governance. Two key areas will be explored - how structures can be developed to support the management, monitoring and leadership at all levels; and what makes an effective Board and how do you achieve it? Module led by Browne Jacobson, Wellspring Academies Trust and Exceed Academies Trust.
Module 5: Business planning. This module will consider the tools and provide example to support leaders to develop the highly important business plan. Module led by Wellspring Academies Trust and Exceed Academies Trust.
Each event module runs from 09:00 to 15:00, including lunch and refreshments.
Each module is £295. However, attending all 5 modules incurs a 10% discount. Prices are per person.
