About this event

Arts • Literary Arts

In partnership with Manchester City of Literature and SISTER, this year’s Cultural Welcome celebrations include a one-off special short film screening event celebrating Manchester’s thriving poetry scene and multilingual talent.

This vibrant cinematic journey travels from basketball courts and takeaways, to libraries, museums, green spaces and the city’s streets. Featuring powerful work from Nasima Bee and inaugural Manchester Multilingual City Poets Ali Al-Jamri, Anjum Malik and Jova Bagioli Reyes, the screening offers creativity, inspiration and reflection for all those who are getting ready to call Manchester their home.

Come along whatever language you speak and enjoy an evening of welcome in our UNESCO Creative City. Expect to come away with free bookish goodies and guides to the best literary spots in the city.

This event is part of The Cultural Welcome – a week of events designed to help students discover the creative and cultural spaces of Manchester’s Knowledge Quarter. Find out more.
