The CV Workshop
Event Information
Description
Hey ladies
We’re back!
And we’re excited to bring you the next in our series of sessions aimed at helping you crack in to the creative industry.
This time we’re going to talk CVs.
How to write them, how to stand out, how to tailor them and most importantly, how to make sure they secure you an interview. And to do that, we’ve pulled in the expertise of someone who has an unrivalled knowledge of CVs in the creative industry- headhunter, Susan Lindsay.
Susan is a headhunter specialising in the Marketing, Communications and Creative sector, who runs her own recruitment business and knows exactly what employers are looking for. She’ll be sharing her top tips on tailoring your CV to get the job you want. Her session will focus on:
-
How to identify your superpower
-
How to work out what you need vs what you want from an employer and role
-
How to tailor your CV for the role you want
-
How to compile the modern day ‘cover letter’
-
The importance of, and how to identify the company you want to work for
From there we will break into workshops to further hone your CV skills. We’ll round off the evening with a panel discussion with The Leith Agency’s Associate Planner and former IPA Scotland chair, Claire Wood and Tina Walsberger - Marketing and Communications Director from Edinburgh International Festival, where you can ask about their personal experience of both getting jobs and what they look for when they’re hiring.
So if you are currently studying and looking at a future career in the creative industry, this event is for you. Just as a wee side note for ‘Creatives’: CVs are rarely necessary for creative positions so we’ll be running a portfolio workshop in early 2019. Excitin’ times.
Hope to see you there!
