About this event
*******Due to the current changing Covid situation and the space available, I have changed these workshops into one-to-one sessions. In this way they have evolved into more intimate, personalised sessions. You are welcome to drop in and take them as regenerative movement sessions or as a taster if you are curious about exploring weekly ongoing therapeutic work with me. **********
As we move through Autumn into the depths of the Winter season, like the trees shedding their leaves, you may find yourself letting go of what no longer serves and turning your attention inward. These workshops draw inspiration from the Japanese Butoh dance form founded by Hijikata Tatsumi, and invite you to turn to your moving body, to embrace the dance into darkness of the coming months. For it is in darkness that we dream and birth the new. Each workshop offers guided slow somatic movement working with different themes, non-human animals and the elements, gentle ways of tracing sensations on the skin as a way of listening to the inner self and witnessing, as well as expressing emotions, through gesture. Each session closes with mark-making or creative writing and storytelling.
Accessibility
I strive to make my events accessible and inclusive to all people of adult age regardless of sex, gender, sexual orientation, race and ability. No previous experience of dance or movement is needed for these workshops. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss your needs to participate in these workshops.
*If Covid-19 lockdown-related government guidelines prevent these workshops from happening in person, they will go ahead and be delivered online via Zoom instead.
