"That deep fear we all have of being wrong, of being belittled and of feeling less than, is what stops us taking the very risks required to move our companies forward"*
The Daring Way™ is a highly experiential methodology based on the research of Brené Brown. It has been developed to help men and women learn how to show up, be seen, and live braver lives. We will be applying the method to our professional lives as coaches and helping professionals.
During the process we explore topics such as vulnerability, courage, shame, and worthiness. We examine the thoughts, emotions, and behaviours that are holding us back and we identify the new choices and practices that will move us toward more authentic and wholehearted living. The primary focus is on developing shame resilience skills and developing daily practices that transform the way we live, lead and show up in our professional capacities.
During the process we will also explore...
- the beliefs that we hold which stop us from stepping in to our leadership, our creativity and our innovation
- the behaviours that we engage in which get in the way of connection
- the attributes and the barriers to empathy, and how to close the gap
- the incremental, small moments that can build or break trust
- the importance of vulnerability to unleash vision in your work
- how choosing courage over comfort will drive leadership behaviours and client engagement
The course will be facilitated by Roxanne Hobbs (CPCC, ACC, DWF) and Sonia Calvo (CPPC ACC DWF-C). Roxanne is the founder of The Hobbs Consultancy, which was born out of a sense that corporations must be able to do more to support women through key transitions in the workplace. Working at Managing Partner level in the media industry, she saw for herself the challenges that women face – specifically in the step up in to leadership and also through maternity. Sonia is an associate coach for The Hobbs Consultancy, amongst other things, she is also a Certified Daring Way Facilitator - Candidate, working one on one with groups in the work of Brené Brown.
Dr. Brené Brown Ph.D. LMSW is a research professor at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work. She has spent the past twelve years studying vulnerability, courage, worthiness, and shame. She is the author of two #1 New York Times bestsellers; Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead (2012), and The Gifts of Imperfection (2010).
