The Debutante Intersectional Feminism Reading Group Session 2
Event Information
About this Event
The Debutante are delighted to announce the return of the Intersectional Feminism reading group for a second series.
In the second session we will be discussing the work of multidisciplinary Afro-Cuban artist María Magdalena Campos-Pons. In particular, we will be looking at Campos-Pons' exhibition 'Alchemy of the Soul' and the interview 'Art and Diaspora: A Conversation with María Magdalena Campos-Pons.'
Throughout the session we will refer to a selection of Campos-Pons' visual works, as well as the interview content. The session is intended to be a relaxed space which encourages the exchange of ideas and insights.
As an interdisciplinary arts journal, we strive to explore the intersection of race, gender, ethnicity and sexuality, which we hope will provide fruitful opportunities for discussion throughout the coming monthly sessions. The choice of texts also reflects the urgent necessity to amplify the voices of BAME authors and artists and interject these narratives and voices into the contemporary discourse.
