Event description

Description

Whilst most export workshops focus on either exporting procedures or conversely ‘doing business in X market’ and/or how to start your international journey, there are very few training opportunities by specialised training providers which will encompass and even dare to broach a valuable mixture of all these crucial aspects necessary for successful international growth.

Until now….

This one day masterclass is different in so far as we have brought together two international business experts with complementary knowledge in both the ‘front end’ aspects of exporting i.e. getting out into new markets and finding the right new business for you, along with the ‘back end’ i.e ensuring payments, paperwork and overall compliance is met from your perspective.

Victoria Boldison from Bolst Global supports UK brands to internationalise with a specialism in international marketing and overseas business development and relationship management. She has been at the forefront of understanding export markets and helping several British companies to start and develop their international sales in various global geographies.

Jayne Mezulis from Export and Import Consultancy Services works with companies to ensure that their export procedures are ‘match fit’, enabling their products to arrive at their destination without delays. Her speciality is to introduce easy to follow in-house procedures accommodating international and HMRC regulations whilst best serving the exporter’s interests.

This course is aimed at business owners starting out or those developing their exports, sales professionals tasked with international business development as well as admin and customer service team members who need a better understanding of how to work with their international clients, offering smooth delivery of goods and services thereby encouraging repeat orders. It is also a useful refresher for those working in day to day international trade who want to review the end to end export process.

Schedule for the day:

Coffee and registration: 9.30am

The morning will be dedicated to the exciting task of how to cost-effectively find the most lucrative export markets and customers for your products.

Session 1: 10 – 11.15 am Market research: getting it right and being effective

This session looks at how best to select your markets and then how to execute this. From knowing where you wish to place your export focus it is then a case of targeting those select markets, making a proactive approach and being effective in your international market research (often when you have limited time and resources!)

Session 2: 11.15 – 12.30 pm International marketing and business development

This second practical session builds on the first and takes a look at some of the extra considerations you need to take into account with your marketing mix when selling overseas. We also look at how to actually start finding those potential new partners and vet them for compatibility with your business.

12.30 – 1.15 Lunch

The afternoon sessions will deal with the nuts and bolts of exporting, flushing out areas you may need to address back at base, and guiding you through the export process from quotation stage to getting paid.

Session 3: 1.15 – 2.45 pm Preparing for exporting

This session takes a look at the export quotation, advising on terms to include and cost elements to build into your price. We then have an overview of the documentation required for both EU and non-EU shipments.

Coffee break 2.45 – 3 pm

Session 4: 3.00 – 4.15 pm Logistics and getting paid

In this section we deal with how to find a good freight forwarder, the ways of getting your goods to the customer and how best to ensure payment.

4.15 – 4.30 pm Q&A and close
