Join our welcoming online community where autistic individuals, parents, carers, and professionals come together for peer support, learning, and open conversations. Everyone has the opportunity to share as much or as little as they like, fostering a supportive environment for all.

What is the cost of the Autism Alliance?

This Autism Alliance is completely free.

How much do I have to participate?

Participation is entirely up to you. Share as much or as little as you like. We encourage everyone to feel comfortable and respected within the community.

Do I have to RSVP or sign up to each meeting on the Autism Alliance I would like to attend?

No, you don't need to RSVP to attend The Autism Alliance meetings or receive our updates. Once signed up you'll be on our mailing list and will receive all future updates and event details.

Is this a professional support group?

While we welcome professionals, this community is primarily focused on peer support. We encourage open conversations and sharing of personal experiences. If you need professional advice, please consult a qualified therapist or specialist.

Are my details for the mailing list confidentially stored?

Yes, we take data privacy seriously. Your details will be stored securely and only used for the purpose of sending you information relevant to The Autism Alliance. We will not share your information with any third parties without your consent.

How do I register?

What kind of support can I expect after the Autism Alliance?

Our trained autism advisors are available through our helpline after the Autism Alliance for further advice and support. You will also have the opportunity to connect with other families and build a supportive network. Contact details will be shared during the alliance.

Do I need an autism diagnosis to attend?

No, an official diagnosis is not needed to attend. We welcome everyone interested in learning and supporting the autism community and anyone who is seeking support.

What should I bring to the Autism Alliance?

Just yourself and anyone you would like to join you!

How do I access the meeting?

By signing up, you'll join our mailing list. Before each Alliance meeting, we'll send out a joining link to access the online meeting.

When do meetings take place?

Meetings take place on the last Wednesday of every month from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM.

We cover a wide range of topics relevant to the autism community, including but not limited to: Diagnosis and support, Communication and social skills, Sensory sensitivities, Education and employment, Mental health and wellbeing, Advocacy and rights, Personal experiences, Current events.

If I'm on the mailing list, do I have to attend the meetings?

No, attending the meetings is not mandatory. The mailing list keeps you informed about upcoming events, resources, and opportunities, but you're welcome to participate as much or as little as you like.

How are discussions moderated?

We have moderators dedicated to ensuring a safe and respectful environment. They monitor discussions for inappropriate content, promote community guidelines, and address any concerns raised by members.

Are there opportunities for in-person meetups?

While our main focus is the online community, we may organize in-person meetups or events in the future based on member interest and local resources.

Is there a code of conduct for members?

Whilst we like to keep the meetings as laid back as possible, we have a community guidance outlining our expectations for respectful and inclusive communication. All members are asked to adhere to these guidelines.

Can I share resources and information with others?

If I no longer wish to be a part of the Autism Alliance can I leave the mailing list?

Of course! Whilst we will be sad to see you go please just email us and we will ensure to remove your details from our mailing list.

How long is the Autism Alliance?

The Autism Alliance will last approximately one and a half hours, including a ten-minute break halfway through.

The Autism Alliance Online Community is open to everyone, but as Autism Information and Advice Service is specifically tailored to support residents of Derbyshire and Derby City we can only support attendees within this area.
