Unfortunately, sales have now ended for this event, however we meet on the 14th of every month, so please do join us next month instead!

An online book club especially for teachers of design and technology, whatever level of education that may be - all are welcome.

About this event

Enabling professional dialogue, continued personal & professional development and the chance to network with like minded individuals.

I hope these events become a regular event in the calendars of design and technology teachers far and wide, which are looked forward to each month by all.

Useful information

  • Free to join and easy to book via eventbrite.
  • An online link and reminder of the event will be sent to participants prior to the event.
  • Meetings will be held once a month and consistently on the 14th of each month at 7:30pm. This ensures that the date of the meetings are easy to remember, but also so that the day regularly changes to minimise the chance of clashing with existing commitments. I hope that this strategy will enable as many teachers as possible to attend at different points of the year, as their schedule allows.
  • Literature will be voted for by members, at least one month in advance of each meeting. This will be released by Claire Vickery via social media and the official webpage for the book club. The event listing for each month will also be updated with the book choice.
  • Meetings will initially be online, however as members begin connecting, localised meets could also become an option.
  • Teachers & Lecturers from across all stages of education from EYFS to Primary, Secondary, Further and Higher Education with an interest or commitment to Design and Technology are welcome to join at any point.
  • As a teacher myself and mum of 3, I completely understand how unrealistic long term commitments (especially those on school nights or in term time) can be, therefore members are welcome to attend as many or as few meetings as they are able and need not feel guilty if their workload or family life gets in the way. Likewise, if you are only able to read a few pages or a chapter or listen to the audiobook, you are still very welcome to attend the meeting, as this will still be a great opportunity to network and hopefully you will still pick up ideas of best practice etc from the conversations within the meeting.
  • Your well-being and that of those around you are the most important and I hope these events have a positive impact on the well-being and continued personal and professional development of members.
  • The book club (where possible) will seek to try and obtain some kind of discount on each book for members to purchase if they wish. Where members are unable to purchase a copy, please check local libraries or ask the CPD lead within your school if they are able to purchase the book for your school or on your behalf to support your CPD.
  • Suggestions, comments and questions always welcome. Please email
