Event description

Description

This lecture was formerly titled 'From Short Words to Ones and Zeros'.

Daniel Rothschild is Professor of Philosophy of Language in the Department of Philosophy. His research is focused on theoretical issues in semantics, the study of the way language encodes meaning, and pragmatics, the study of how meaningful language gets used.

Inaugural lectures are an opportunity for recently-promoted professors to exhibit to the wider UCL community, and the public outside UCL, a flavour of their intellectual activity and research. Each lecture is followed by a drinks reception, to which all attendees are warmly invited.
