Event description

Description

Marieke Lucas Rijneveld rose to fame in their native Netherlands with their first poetry collection Calfskin. This early success is now followed by a novel The Discomfort of Evening (Faber), a portrait of a Dutch farming family torn apart by grief, already a huge bestseller in the Netherlands and now available in English in a translation by Michele Hutchison. Rijneveld will be reading from their work and will be in conversation with the artist and poet Sophie Collins, (Small White Monkeys; Who is Mary Sue?) who was herself born and brought up in North Holland.

Part of New Dutch Writing, presented by the Dutch Foundation for Literature.
