Ever wondered what it’s like to be a Biologist? Now’s your chance to step into a real lab and explore the fascinating world of biology through hands-on experiments and interactive activities!
Join some of our scientists in our state of the art teaching facility BIOS where we will let you try your hand at some of the techniques we use.
You will get to
-Extract DNA from fruit using everyday ingredients and hold it in your hand
- See glowing bacteria with a Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP)
- Hunt for tardigrades (tiny “water bears”) under the microscope
- Try Gram staining to see how we identify bacteria
- Watch DNA separation in action with gel electrophoresis
