The Doughnut(W)Hole RG: Reality Is Not What It Seems, Carlo Rovelli.
Overview
The Doughnut(W)Hole Reading Group: Reality Is Not What It Seems, Carlo Rovelli
Following the Doughnut(W)Hole’s recent foray into White Holes by Carlo Rovelli, we’re inviting participants to join us again as we grapple with Reality Is Not What It Seems.
We’ll be reading the book with the same question as before: what, if anything, do Rovelli’s books have to offer artists?
Our reading groups are low-key, relaxed and fun. No one is expected to be a physicist! (Equally, if you are, you are very welcome to come and tell us where we might be going wrong.) We are committed, however, to trying to get to grips – in some small way – with a technical paradigm that is heavily informed by quantum mechanics.
We are less interested in the production of images that represent superposition and entanglement than we are in discovering what it means to make work which potentially embodies superposition, entanglement, and other bizarre and confusing quantum-inspired phenomena – as we explore what all this might mean for art and artists.
We cannot provide PDFs but we have seen second-hand copies advertised for under £3 online.
A Zoom link will be sent to event attendees on the day of the event.
