Description

Medicine, The Olympics and an Active Scotland

Dr Niall Elliott, Head of Sports Medicine at the sportscotland Institute of Sport and Chief Medical Officer to Team GB at Rio 2016 Olympic and Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games is to present the 2016 Dundee Christmas Lecture. This will be hosted by Mark Beaumont, Rector of the University of Dundee and record-breaking cyclist and author.

The talk and discussion will be an opportunity to delve into the role of a sports medic at elite sporting competitions and what it takes to prepare and support Britain's and Scotland's athletes to compete at the top of their sporting careers. Sports Medicine has progressed over the years and with the drive to become more physically active as a widely recognised public health intervention, Mark Beaumont will host a discussion with Dr Elliott on active Scotland, exercise medicine and the inspiration we can draw from athletes and adventurers alike.
