Introduction and post screening discussion with Nick Walker
Director: Michelangelo Antonioni Writers: Michelangelo Antonioni e Tonino Guerra Cast: Monica Vitti, Alain Delon, Francisco Rabal Drama | 2 h 6min | b&w | 1962

On the surface L’Eclisse is a love story, with its main character Vittoria ending one affair with the writer Riccardo and moving on to a new relationship with the ambitious stock market trader Piero. We witness a breakup, a new affair, a stock market crash and a car crash. This film is one of the most disturbing films about life and relationships in the mid-20th century. It is considered the last part of a trilogy preceded by L'Avventura (1960) and La Notte (1961). The Eclipse won the Special Jury Prize at the 1962 Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for the Palme d'Or.
