Event description

Description

Of all issues facing policy makers today, none is so compelling as the question of economic growth. Infrastructure is considered a major sector of the economy throughout the world. While growth theory shows that infrastructure influences investment, which is a major factor in determining economic growth, the growth process per se is a complex phenomenon. Much attention has been paid to the role of the infrastructure sector in the national economy. The 2008 global financial crisis made it the preoccupation of every government to explore the minimum necessary and sufficient conditions for economic growth.

The forum will be structured as a panel discussion. Guests will have the unique opportunity to engage some of South Africa's best thinkers in robust economic dialogue on:

What major economic policies has the ANC government enacted since 1994 to turn the South African economy around and stimulate economic growth? Have such policies been successful? If not, why?
