It's my great honour to invite you join upcoming The Economist Club Meeting
Theme: 'Must Try Harder'
We are going to discuss an article from section International on education
Date: Dec 15th, 20:00
Venue: Pacific Bar, Conrad
The Economist Club is informal gathering of The Economist magazine readers (online/ print) in Hong Kong to discuss the global issues, develop better understanding and deeper awareness of things that matter, critical thinking and sharing the opinion. Readers and curious people are invited and always welcomed to join for intellectual discussion.
Not Having a PhD, MD, ACCA, CFA and other degrees
You do not need to be an economist or 'expert' in the topic, it's not 'must' to be subscriber to magazine (can well read online for free). It's enough to be curious, hungry for intellectual discussion and prioritise time join the meeting.
The Meeting Flow
First we meet and introduce to each other. Then we divide into the groups of three people for discussion. One from the group begins by introducing key points from suggested article / what she remembers / was impressed by, others add and follow the conversation. It is recommended to ask questions, provoke new paths for discussion, share personal experience, opinions etc. For last 5-10 min we gather together and one person from each group shares 'insights' and summarise what group has discussed about.
It's free to participate, but we would buy a drink as a courtesy to the venue (around HKD 80-150)
It is really okay to leave anytime if you find this is not your cup of tea. We just want to relax, be curious, strive for intellectual discussion and have fun.
