ECVYS are hosting a very unique conference for all those who volunteer or work within a voluntary youth setting in Essex.

The event runs from 9.30am (registration and coffee, 10am start) and finishes at 3pm. The conference promises to be buzzing with volunteers and staff from youth groups across Essex and will be bursting with inspiring youth work, good practice, networking, brilliant Keynotes and workshops plus a *FREE yummy lunch....What more could you want?!

Only £5 for member organisations and £10 for non-members. (Please contact officeadmin@ecvys.org.uk if you are unsure.)

Our amazing keynote speakers for the day will be-

Paul Secker, The head of safeguarding at Essex County Council

Paul will be speaking to us about C.S.E, sexting, online exploitation and other issues that are hot topics that we need to make sure we are aware of and engaging in good practice.

Gavin Mckenna, The Director for ‘Reach Every Generation’

Gavin will be speaking to us about the rise in gang cluture within Essex, how voluntary youth groups can/should engage and his own experiences of life in a gang.

Workshop choices:

(You will have the opportunity to pick one morning workshop and one afternoon workshop)

Morning Workshops:

1.) Essex Boys & Girl’s Clubs- Young people and sports; why its works!

2.) Chelmsford Diocese- Young people, Spirituality and engaging them with the Church

3.) ECC Youth Service- How/what should we be measuring, recording & monitor­ing to help with fut­ure funding?

4.) Scouts- Successfully train­ing up and investing in young leaders

Afternoon workshops:

1.) Guides- Building self-este­em in young women in the modern age

2.) The Children’s Socie­ty- Effectively engagi­ng with children and families living in poverty

3.) Interact- Engaging SEN young people in youth work; Breaking down the barriers

4.) Essex Safeguarding Children’s Board- Safe settings and safe youth work. What should we be doing?
