Event description

Description

Join Us!

The Edtech Podcast is delighted to invite you to our first festival, in collaboration with our community partners (GLF, United Learning, Voice 21, Research Schools Network and HereEast)

Join 200-300 like-minded people to improve the dialogue between “ed” and “tech” for better innovation and impact, through storytelling.

Warning! This is not a conference. This is a festival of ideas, so expect to come and get involved. Educators, explore new tools and strategies to support your school improvement plan, and learner outcomes. Edtech orgs., get immediate feedback on your innovations and support your team with new skills. We anticipate the festival being a mix of something like the Do Lectures, We The Curious and The Story for education, teaching and learning.

The Edtech Podcast Festival is set in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park at Plexal Innovation Centre at Here East. Here East is home to UCL robotics institute and Plexal. We will make the most of our surroundings with fresh-air walks outdoors, and exploratory sessions indoors in the Makers Yard. Also on the programme, live podcasts, a pop-up book club and reading area, and a series of educator and edtech workshops and meet-ups.

Some of the features announced include;

  • A LIVE podcast programme featuring a community of edu podcasters including TeacherToolkit, DebateMate & Six Formers from School 21 showcasing their real world learning podcast project
  • A pop-up book shop run by the Wellcome Collection and featuring book signings and chats from authors including Global Teacher Prize Nominees, and learning design specialists
  • A series of educator workshops run by past @podcastedtech guests including everything from top tips for saving teacher time and supporting your school improvement plan, to oracy, flipped classroom and the latest guidance on using digital technologies in the classroom
  • A series of edtech workshops including everything from a clinic to assess how efficacious your product is, what legal problems you should worry about, how to get your service out there, and how to co-create with teachers and put learner centred design at the heart of what you do
  • A Makers Yard including hands on learning experiences including coding, making 3D printing, and design thinking. Come here to get involved with the Imperial College pop up maker space
  • A high street of innovation featuring new takes on solving real problems in teaching and learning, from early years to higher education and beyond into the world of work
  • A series of meet ups to increase your personal learning network, including intros to communities across Government, International Edtech, Teacher CPD and the new cultural park partners (UCL, Here East, LLDC, and more)
  • Lunchtime mindfulness walks and networking for educators and entrepreneurs around the beautiful Queen Elizabeth Oiympic Park, our host venue
  • A final festival party to end the day

The Edtech Podcast Festival has been developed after extensive conversations with school CPD leads and Festival partners. The Festival is delighted to count among its supporters the following organisations: Here East, LLDC, Educate, UCISA, Research Schools Network, Bethnal Green Ventures, Emerge Education, United Learning, WomenEd and WomenEdtech, Association for Learning Technology and many others.

The Edtech Podcast is for everyone involved in teaching and learning, from early years, K-12, Higher and Further Ed and Future of Work. We believe learnings take place where these groups meet.

We do hope you will join us in September, for a special and impactful day that we hope you will remember.

See you then!

Sophie Bailey, The Edtech Podcast

Who is it for?

The Edtech Podcast Festival aims to bring together everyone involved in education innovation and impact. Educators from early years to HE and everything in between, start ups, bluechips, publishers, investors, Government and media. We’ll work hard to mix you up and make your experience as hands on as possible. The ethos of the event is to go home with a head full of ideas, interesting conversations and follow up. After a gruelling week marking lessons or ‘hustling’ as an entrepreneur, we want you to feel loved! Education innovation cannot be achieved by one side alone. In year one, we aim to bring 200 people together. 70% UK and 30% ROW.

FAQ

What's the venue?

Plexal, Europe's leading new technology innovation destination for entrepreneurs and corporations to build business that improves lives.

What's the best way to get to the venue?

Set down at Hackney Wick Overground (via Highbury and Islington or Stratford); the venue is then a 10 minute walk via the bridge at Number 90. Once across the bridge turn left, passing the new Mossbourne Riverside Academy primary school on your right. Here East is just a few mins beyond. Alternatively, jump on the 388 to the venue through the Olympic Park or take a 20 minute stroll from Stratford station. Extensive details here.

If I drive, is there parking?

We advise our guests to park at Stratford International or the Westfield car park.

Why do I have to pay to attend?

We are spending considerable time planning an event which creates fruitful exchanges between attendees. The delegate fee will help cover our costs, with sponsorship covering venue, food, drinks and other logistics including AV, insurance, etc.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

The event team can be contacted at theedtechpodcast@gmail.com

Can I do anything to help?

Why, thanks!

We are actively discussing speaking, sponsorship, and media features and welcome enquiries. Share the podcast with your networks (The Edtech Podcast) and let people know about the festival via #edtechpod.

See you soon!
