Event description

Description

Join Us!

The Edtech Podcast is delighted to invite you to our first festival, in collaboration with our community partners (GLF, United Learning, Voice 21, Research Schools Network and HereEast)

Join 200-300 like-minded people to improve the dialogue between “ed” and “tech” for better innovation and impact, through storytelling.

Warning! This is not a conference. This is a festival of ideas, so expect to come and get involved. Educators, explore new tools and strategies to support your school improvement plan, and learner outcomes. Edtech orgs., get immediate feedback on your innovations and support your team with new skills. We anticipate the festival being a mix of something like the Do Lectures, We The Curious and The Story for education, teaching and learning.

The Edtech Podcast Festival is set in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park at Plexal, an award winning innovation centre and home to UCL Robotics. We will make the most of our surroundings with fresh-air walks outdoors, and exploratory sessions indoors in the Makers Yard. Also on the programme, live podcasts, a pop-up book club and reading area, and a series of educator and edtech workshops and meet-ups. Check out some of our updates here.

The Edtech Podcast is for everyone involved in teaching and learning, from early years, K-12, Higher and Further Ed and Future of Work. We believe learnings take place where these groups meet.

We do hope you will join us in September, for a special and impactful day that we hope you will remember.

See you then!

Sophie Bailey, The Edtech Podcast

Who is it for?

The Edtech Podcast Festival aims to bring together everyone involved in education innovation and impact. Educators from early years to HE and everything in between, start ups, bluechips, publishers, investors, Government and media. We’ll work hard to mix you up and make your experience as hands on as possible. The ethos of the event is to go home with a head full of ideas, interesting conversations and follow up. After a gruelling week marking lessons or ‘hustling’ as an entrepreneur, we want you to feel loved! Education innovation cannot be achieved by one side alone. In year one, we aim to bring 200 people together. 70% UK and 30% ROW.

Register

There are limited places at The Edtech Podcast Festival. To secure your place, register now and make the most of the early bird tickets!

Across the one-day festival, expect:

Imaginative Talks

The ethos of the event is to be as collaborative as possible. However, we imagine ‘big picture’ plenary sessions to start and end the festival to bring everyone together and to get minds whirring. Is Self-Directed Learning a Fallacy? What tools can support School Improvement Plans? And, Imagine (a world without tested assessment)…

Edtech Workshops

A series of edtech workshops will help edtech companies refine their offering and professionalise, (without becoming boring)! The sessions will be around 30 minutes long, and will then be followed by 30 minutes of 1:1 networking, covering everything from legal, funding, recruitment, marketing, UX, efficacy and pedagogy.

Educator Workshops

A series of educator workshops will help educators companies refine their practice and boost their confidence and connections in any given area. The sessions will be around 30 minutes long, and will then be followed by 30 minutes of 1:1 networking, covering everything from understanding data, maker-space technologies, oracy, and what does AI mean for me and my students?

LIVE podcast stage

Dedicated sessions will be recorded for The Edtech Podcast and we will invite international education innovation podcasters to come and get involved. We will invite the listener community to vote for sessions they would live recorded via social media ahead of the event.

FAQ

What's the venue?

Plexal, Europe's leading new technology innovation destination for entrepreneurs and corporations to build business that improves lives.

What's the best way to get to the venue?

Set down at Hackney Wick Overground (via Highbury and Islington or Stratford); the venue is then a 10 minute walk via the bridge at Number 90. Once across the bridge turn left, passing the new Mossbourne Riverside Academy primary school on your right. Here East is just a few mins beyond. Alternatively, jump on the free transfer bus from Stratford for a five minute ride to the venue through the Olympic Park. Extensive details here.

If I drive, is there parking?

There is a multi-storey carpark adjacent to Here East. Here are the details from the car park operator:

We operate a ticketless automated number plate recognition (ANPR) system across the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to make it quicker and easier for you to park. The venue user car parks are located moments from the London Aquatics Centre, Copper Box Arena and Here East.

The ANPR cameras will record your vehicle upon entry and exit to make sure that you only pay for the time you stay with us. There is no need to display a ticket as your parking session is registered against your vehicle registration plate. Before leaving the venue car park, you will need to visit a pay machine - simply pop in your vehicle registration and the system will automatically calculate the fee to pay.

Once you arrive at the exit barrier, the system will check to see if your vehicle is registered as having paid the correct fee and that you are entitled to leave. Once confirmed, the barrier will automatically lift and allow your vehicle to exit

Why do I have to pay to attend?

We are spending considerable time planning an event which creates fruitful exchanges between attendees. The delegate fee will help cover our costs, with sponsorship covering venue, food, drinks and other logistics including AV, insurance, etc.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

The event team can be contacted at theedtechpodcast@gmail.com

Can I do anything to help?

Why, thanks!

We are actively discussing speaking, sponsorship, and media features and welcome enquiries. Share the podcast with your networks (The Edtech Podcast) and let people know about the festival via #edtechpod.

See you soon!
