Event description

Description

This is a joint training event between 2 renowned charities, each with a wealth of experience on the effects of drugs, alcohol and domestic abuse on children and young people.

The day will cover the Toxic Trio, (drugs, alcohol & domestic abuse) how it works and the effects on children and young people, outlining how they are impacted and the devastating effects on them.

People often think that alcohol, drugs and mental illness can cause a person to be violent. Alcohol and/or durgs do not cause domestic violence and abuse, but there is evidence that where domestic violence and abuse exists, alcohol and/or drugs are often present.

It will cover what children see and hear, how a child's behaviour is telling us something and how we can respond when a child is presenting with trauma following domestic abuse and the other elements present.
