Description

Royal College of Occupational Therapists

COVID-19

These are challenging times and as the situation with COVID-19 evolves we have taken the difficult decision to cancel a number of events at this time. This includes the Elizabeth Casson Memorial Lecture.

This decision has been taken with a heavy heart, but the safety and wellbeing of our members, the people you serve and our staff – particularly at a time when health and social care is under such immense pressure - is our paramount concern.

This prestigious annual lecture is held in honour of Dr Elizabeth Casson who was the first woman to be awarded a Doctor of Medicine of the University of Bristol. She specialised in psychiatry and introduced occupational therapy to England, setting up the first school of occupational therapy, Dorset House, in Bristol

In recognition of Elizabeth Casson’s commitment to further occupational therapy, the lectureship is awarded to an RCOT member who is considered by their peers to have made, and be making, significant contributions to the profession’s development.
